CyberRota Analysis

AI-Generated

Kubernetes deployments using Traefik versions from 3.7.1 are vulnerable due to inadequate enforcement of crossProviderNamespaces restrictions, allowing unauthorized namespace-limited tenants to attach operator-owned middleware to their Services. This could lead to the injection and recovery of sensitive backend credentials, posing a significant security risk. Organizations utilizing Kubernetes with Traefik should prioritize addressing this vulnerability to safeguard their infrastructure from potential credential exposure.

Original NVD Description

Traefik versions from v3.7.1 fail to enforce crossProviderNamespaces restrictions on the traefik.ingress.kubernetes.io/service.middlewares Service annotation in the Kubernetes Ingress provider. A namespace-limited tenant excluded from the allowlist can attach an operator-owned middleware to its Service, and if that middleware injects backend credentials, recover them at a controlled backend.
