A vulnerability exists in the certificate profile import functionality of Dogtag PKI, utilized by FreeIPA's certificate authority, which fails to adequately validate uploaded profile content. This flaw allows an authenticated user with CA Administrator privileges to exploit the ExternalProcessConstraint mechanism, enabling arbitrary command execution with the pkiuser account. Organizations using FreeIPA with Dogtag PKI should prioritize patching this vulnerability to mitigate the risk of unauthorized code execution.

Original NVD Description

A flaw was found in Dogtag PKI, as used by FreeIPA's certificate authority component. The certificate profile import functionality does not fully validate uploaded profile content beyond the profile ID. An authenticated user with CA Administrator privileges can exploit Dogtag's ExternalProcessConstraint mechanism to execute arbitrary commands with attacker-controlled environment variables, achieving code execution as the pkiuser account.
