CyberRota Analysis
AI-GeneratedThe vulnerability affects the Linux kernel's USB subsystem, specifically in the legousbtower driver, where a use-after-free condition can occur during the disconnect process. This flaw can lead to potential memory corruption or system instability, making it critical for users and administrators of Linux systems utilizing USB devices to prioritize patching. Organizations relying on Linux for their infrastructure should assess their exposure and apply the necessary updates to mitigate this risk.
Original NVD Description
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: USB: legousbtower: fix use-after-free on disconnect race mutex_unlock() may access the mutex structure after releasing the lock and therefore cannot be used to manage lifetime of objects directly (unlike spinlocks and refcounts). [1][2] Use a kref to release the driver data to avoid use-after-free in mutex_unlock() when release() races with disconnect().
