CyberRota Analysis
AI-GeneratedA vulnerability in GIMP's APNG file parsing allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected systems, contingent upon user interaction, such as visiting a malicious webpage or opening a compromised file. The flaw stems from inadequate validation of user-supplied data, leading to an integer overflow during buffer allocation. Organizations using GIMP should prioritize patching this vulnerability to mitigate the risk of remote code execution.

Original NVD Description
GIMP APNG File Parsing Integer Overflow Remote Code Execution Vulnerability. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of GIMP. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The specific flaw exists within the parsing of APNG files. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of user-supplied data, which can result in an integer overflow before allocating a buffer.
