AI-Generated

The WP Ghost (Hide My WP Ghost) plugin for WordPress versions prior to 7.0.05 is vulnerable due to inadequate verification of client IP information, allowing unauthenticated attackers to spoof their IP addresses. This exploitation can enable attackers to bypass brute-force protection mechanisms and downgrade the plugin's firewall by leveraging a hardcoded whitelisted IP range. WordPress site administrators using this plugin should prioritize updating to the latest version to mitigate potential security risks.

Original NVD Description

The WP Ghost (Hide My WP Ghost) WordPress plugin before 7.0.05 does not verify that client IP information comes from a trusted proxy before trusting attacker-controllable HTTP headers, allowing unauthenticated attackers to spoof their IP address to bypass the WP Ghost (Hide My WP Ghost) WordPress plugin before 7.0.05's own brute-force protection and to downgrade its firewall by matching a hardcoded whitelisted IP range.
